Overview

BioHaven® Floating Islands were installed along Isle de Jean Charles Road into an eroding saltwater lake. The primary goal was to protect small slivers of remaining marsh from eroding away and ultimately maintain a buffer between the open lake and the road. Additional goals were for the islands to provide a suitable environment to trap sediment and allow for vegetation to spread.

Results

BioHaven® Floating Islands are protecting the remaining marsh from sheering waves. The vegetation is noticeably more green than nearby natural marsh and has begun to spread over the islands. New shoots of vegetation are beginning to sprout up with roots growing through the islands. This project will continue to be monitored. Please check back for additional updates.
